Premium Space for Independent Trainers
Evo Gyms
After Covid, the fitness industry shifted dramatically. Elite trainers no longer wanted to remain tied to traditional big box gyms where revenue ceilings were inevitable and independence came with massive operational overhead. We saw an opportunity to create something different. Evo Gyms was built as a premium training environment designed specifically for independent trainers. A hospitality-forward fitness concept where trainers could operate their businesses inside an elevated space while keeping 100% of what they billed. In many ways, it was a WeWork for personal training. From the beginning, our strategic positioning centered around two words: sophisticated grit. We wanted Evo to feel premium without becoming sterile and performance-driven without becoming intimidating. Mādin, alongside our investment arm Rabbit Hole Ventures, acted as co-founders from concept through operational stabilization. We developed the business concept, built the investor deck, created the brand identity and strategy, designed the full physical buildout, oversaw equipment layouts and flow optimization, directed all content creation, launched marketing campaigns, and operated the business until management infrastructure was in place. Every detail was intentionally considered. From trainer flow during peak hours to lighting, materials, equipment placement, and environmental branding, the space was designed to feel seamless for both trainers and clients. We also designed Evo to live naturally within culture and social media. The space was intentionally built to create photo-worthy moments through lighting, textures, framing, and spatial design. One of the most rewarding moments was hearing people recognize Evo online before ever stepping foot inside, immediately identifying it as “that premium gym” through trainers’ fitness content and social posts alone. Even more meaningful was the sense of ownership the environment created. Trainers didn’t refer to Evo as “the gym.” They called it “my gym” and “home.” That emotional connection became one of the business’s greatest strengths because the space elevated not only their clients’ experience, but their own identity as business owners. Beyond the physical environment, we built the marketing engine around the trainers themselves. We produced content that elevated their personal brands and ran highly targeted campaigns that attracted both new trainers and new clientele into the ecosystem. The result was rapid adoption and strong community buy-in. Evo reached profitability within six months and scaled to more than 50 trainers within its first year. The concept succeeded because it solved both emotional and economic problems simultaneously, giving trainers freedom, credibility, and a premium environment to grow their businesses. Most importantly, Evo demonstrated that branding and operations are not separate disciplines. Sustainable businesses are built when every touchpoint reinforces the same emotional truth.
