With plastic waste and packaging pollution in a never ending cycle of ruining our oceans, Local Scoop was founded to help move us towards zero-waste. It is a completely sustainable grocery store; one without bags, printed receipts, or cardboard. Local Scoop encourages people to reuse clean jars and bags as their grocery item carriers in an effort to start a movement of thinking more intentionally about the way we consume and live.

Since Local Scoop wanted to lean on its San Diego beachtown roots, our brand strategy started with finding all the best ingredients that make San Diego unique and beautiful. We specifically focused on nature, the ocean, and wildlife elements that would all be positively impacted from Local Scoops’ business model. These items live nicely in the organic look and feel we created, which then influenced the store design. With a name like “Local Scoop” it was crucial to emphasize the differentiator from the traditional grocery model. Locals can come in and take a satisfying scoop of essential items home with them in reusable jars and bags, providing a zero waste impact and sustainable living experience.
